John Keats: A Romantic Poet

The famous English Romantic poet John Keats was born on October 31, 1795. He went on to become a doctor but became a poet. It was only a few years after the publication of his poetry that he died of TB in his youth. Although his poetry was not well-received during his lifetime, it was very popular after his death by the end of the 19th century. His poetry influenced many poets and writers. He published 54 poems, his famous work is "I Stood Tip-Toe Upon a Little Hill", sonnet "On First Looking into Chapman's Homer" and  "Sleep and Poetry". He published his best poetry Lamia, Isabella, The Eve of St. Agnes, and Other Poems in 1820. John Keats was eight years old when his father fell off a horse and died. The mother remarried two months later, but the new couple soon separated. Keats was 14 when her mother died of tuberculosis. In October 1815, he got admission to Guys Hospital as a medical student.

A few months later, he got a job as a dresser at the hospital. This significantly increased the responsibility of John Keats. It is now thought that he will advance in the medical field. Because of this work, John Cates did not have time to write. He became mentally distant from the medical field and felt that he would have to choose between poetry and medical. He wrote his first long poem, An Immigration of Spencer, in 1814. He was only 19 at the time. The intense desire for poetry and the financial difficulties of the family made him suffer. In 1818 he received a license to perform surgery and prescribe medicine, but later that year he decided that he wanted to become a poet, not a surgeon.

Although he worked in the hospital, he spent most of his time studying literature. During this time his poetry continued to be published in various publications. In 1820, TB began to affect his health. The disease reached its climax early next year. He died as a young man on February 23, 1821due to tuberculosis, he had a short lifespan he lived 25 years.
